So You Can Carry Me

So You Can Carry Me

It's been 6 months since my last post. I've been quiet, not because I have nothing to say but because I've had too much to say. Sometimes life circumstances suck the words right out of your mouth. As the year approaches its end I've done what the end of everything warrants: reflected.

I'm grateful that the year ends with Christmas because I can partake in the greatest gift exchange of all -  without words, I lay down my distress, sadness, and anxiety and take up God's free gift of love, peace, and joy.

When there's so much to say but the words don't form

When my heart struggles to float in seas of uncertainty

When my lungs threaten to burst with long held breaths

I'll throw my arms up so you can carry me

And you whisper...

“I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.

Don’t panic. I’m with you.

There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.

I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you.

I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”
