Day 2: Super Food Fast
Day two! I'm feeling pretty good about this fast. Yesterday was a bit of a struggle and I went to bed earlier than normal. I guess my body got the memo that we are doing all things good and decided extended sleep should be on the docket.
Today I woke up feeling good. I didn't remember I hadn't eaten all day until about 3pm so I guess my body is doing just fine. It wasn't hunger pangs that reminded me, it was a depletion in energy. Which reminded me that food is primarily for energy. That also reminded me that prayer gives spiritual energy so I prayed for a few minutes and then went to find an organic smoothie (that cost an arm and a leg because it’s NYC and anything organic is gold and all the fancy stuff in the smoothie were apparently sourced sustainably and sustainable equals your paycheck…ends rant).
Later in the evening, I took my younger sister out to an early birthday dinner. The menu was great. They had chicken and waffles, mac and cheese jalapeño poppers, cajun shrimp gumbo…just what I needed after only having a smoothie all day. Do you want to know what I had? A gigantic salad! Yuuuuum!
As my sister poured her maple syrup on her waffles, I poured my avocado lime dressing aaaaaall over my plate. As she sipped on her ver rich and chocolatey milkshake, I sipped on my refreshing aqua. You know what's interesting? By the end of my salad I was full; not stuffed but satisfied. We both were, except I don't have the itis and she certainly does (I say this as I sit opposite her on the couch and she confirm that the itis is indeed upon her lol) .
On another note, I've decided that I'm going to buy someone lunch this week. I figured if I'm not eating what I normally would, I'd give a meal to someone who wouldn't normally eat at all. We'll both not be eating what we normally do and our bodies will thank us for it. I'll fill you on more details as I flesh them out.
PS: I know I said I was satisfied with my salad but now it's been an hour since dinner and I'm feeling like I need a topper already. Fruits and veggies metabolize much quicker than carbs and protein apparently (palm to face). I’m off to munch on some carrots.
