Day 1: Super Foods Fast
Day 1
Today, I begin a 14 Day Fast! Woooohoooo! I'm pretty excited about this. Why, you might ask. Well it's because when I fast I reap so many physical, emotional and spiritual benefits. It's true. You can read about my 30 day fast from a few years ago for more details on that.
So for the next 14 days I'll be focusing on "super foods" for my body, soul and spirit.
PS: My church will be doing a 5 day fast focused on the same thing and hinged on Isaiah 58 from June 10th to June 14. You can sign up here to join in the fast and spread love in your community.
Okay cool! I just stocked my fridge and freezer for the next few days…thank you Amazon Prime Now because I clearly didn’t plan properly for this.
I feel as though there are things I need to break and there's no better time than now to do that. Isaiah 58 talks about fasting and says:
There are things in my life that I think have been enslaving yokes; that is, things that have kept me in a state of feeling compelled to do things I don't really want to - cycles. I think most people can relate to what I'm talking about. You tell yourself this is the last time you're going to let this thing happen to you...then you find yourself there again. You tell yourself you're never going to be with someone that treats you badly and then you find yourself in yet another relationship like that. You tell yourself this year will be different and November comes and you realize it wasn't...cycles. So, these 14 days I'm focused on fasting to break specific cycles in my life. No magic tricks here lol. I just really believe that the power of God is strong enough to break anything that keeps me bound (if I will only employ that power in my life).
Okay, that wraps it up. Fast begins. Here's my lunch today (and probably dinner tomorrow)
I present sautéed cauliflower and peppers. It was delicious but I'm still hungry. I feel like my body is saying, "you're going to have to do better than that if you're going to substitute rice for cauliflower honey."
